General Information

Name CMIP7.CMIP.UKNCSP.UKCM2-0-LL.1pctCO2
Abstract Project: CMIP7

CMIP core common experiments i.e. the DECK (Diagnostic, Evaluation and Characterization of Klima).

Produced by: UKNCSP is a strategic partnership between the Met Office and six NERC-funded research centres in the UK. This partnership consists of the British Antarctic Survey (BAS), British Geological Survey (BGS), Met Office, National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS), National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO), National Oceanography Centre (NOC) and UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (UKCEH), with a mission to unite and harness UK climate science capability, advance international partnerships, and drive solutions for a resilient, net-zero world. (Using Model/Source: UKCM2-0-LL with Experiment 1pctCO2)

UKCM2-0-LL includes dynamically evolving MetUM GA9 dynamical atmosphere with the embedded GLOMAP-mode aerosol scheme coupled to the JULES GL9 land surface and the GOSI9 configuration of the NEMO ocean and the embedded SI3 sea-ice model. Land ice is represented through JULES. The ice surface is taken to be one of the surface tile types, and all surface tiles share the same soil information for temperature and moisture in JULES. The specification of land-ice gridboxes is done through the tile fractions information. Atmospheric chemistry. UKCM2-0-LL has a very simplified treatment of aerosol chemistry using prescribed trace gas oxidants. GHGs/CFCs are prescribed from CMIP7 forcings as annual mean global constant values. UKCM2-0-LL does not include an ocean-biogeochemistry model.

Experiment: 1% per year increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide levels. All other conditions are kept the same as piControl.

CMIP7 is a project of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP), coordinated by the Working Group on Coupled Modelling (WGCM).Phase 7 builds on previous phases executed under the leadership of the Program for Climate Model Diagnosis and Intercomparison (PCMDI) and relies on the Earth System Grid Federation (ESGF) and the Centre for Environmental Data Analysis (CEDA) along with numerous related activities for implementation.
